In “Race” a young black male encounters a police officer while walking home. Juxtaposed with a race in a track meet, the boy runs for his life. The officer, mistaking the boy for a criminal, sees not a young innocent boy, but rather, a monster. Fear clouds both of their minds as the confrontation escalates rapidly, almost destined for a drastic turn for the worse. As the young man crosses the finish line, the officer begins to realize his mistake and stands down.
